All Children’s & Youth Groups will be starting in their normal Groups this week

• Creche age 0-3  - Memorial Hall (please collect when prompted)
• Bubbles age 3-5 (reception) – School Dining Hall
• Splash School Year 1-3 – Church Centre Main Hall
• Extreme School year 4-6 – School Hall
• Youth School Year 7-9 – Church Centre Youth Wing
• Wednesday Youth will restart pm 6th September

 
Office  - Due to a bereavement the office will be short staffed w/c 4th September.  Please bear with us during this period.  Please be aware office will be closed Friday 8th September
 

Toddlers restarts on Monday.  We are looking for some assistance Toddlers runs on Mondays and Tuesdays 9.30-11am during term time. This is an incredible opportunity to connect with the community, giving parents and carers a safe space to come to whilst their children play.  The group is run by a supportive and dedicated team.  Roles include;

• Assisting with serving tea and coffee – Monday’s
• Setting up and packing away toys
• Talking to parents, grandparents and child minders

• Bible stories, Singing
• Crafts

 We would like more people to join the team to continue to strengthen this ministry, please get in touch if you’d like to consider being involved. Email the office or [email protected]
 

Prayer & Worship Wednesday 6th September from 7:45pm – Prayer and Worship All welcome
 

Service of the Word – Friday 8th September 12:15 in Church (after the Friday Coffee Morning 10-12).  This service will be on the second Friday of the month.  The service is an opportunity for people to attend church during the week and to connect with God.


SEVEN The next Seven Service is on Sunday 10th September – 7pm in Church. Seven Service is on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of every month at 7pm.  SEVEN is a lively, spirit led service with worship, teaching and fellowship.  We meet together after the service socially; it would be good to see you.

• 25th November 9:30M – 3:30PM  –  Need help talking about Jesus?  A day that will up skill you in how to have a natural conversation about your faith in Jesus with your friends and colleagues (without sounding weird!) 

 

Support on Sound – The 9am Service are looking for some additional help with Sound/Media to support our established team of volunteers.  Full Training will be given – please contact the office
 

All keen Cyclist and Walkers …
This year’s annual Bike ‘n Hike – takes place on Saturday 9th September.  It is run by Bed & Herts Historic Churches Trust, who kindly gave us a grant towards the refurbishment
There are two ways you can get involved. 

• Welcome walkers and cyclist to the church - sign up for an for a couple of hours. (offers of help to church office)
• Find some friends, get some sponsors and walk or cycle to some of the churches that are open in Herts & Beds.  Info pack available from the office. Bike 'n Hike 9 September 2023

 

Mary Salter – Sabbatical
After many years of faithfully serving and supporting Christ Church as a Lay Reader Mary Salter is having a sabbatical from upfront ministry, resuming at the beginning of January.  Please do be praying for Mary in the time of refreshment and do say HI as she is still around but support her in the break.

 
Children’s Ministry Update
We have not yet appointed someone to the role of maternity cover for the assistant children’s role while Lizzie is on maternity leave.   However, this appointment is still open if you are interested.  Therefore, we are asking for some extra help in the following ways to help support the children’s ministry over the next few months.

• It is great that we have our rotas filled in advance with so many kind volunteers.  However, there are occasions when someone might not be able to make it last minute.  Would you be willing to be on a list that Jess can ask at short notice if the leader suddenly becomes unavailable? Would you be willing to be in a Whatsapp group for this back up cover?
• We are also looking for some help in preparation for crèche sessions which can be done at any point in the week.  There is a book to get the material from, so it requires selecting a few activities for each week, putting a plan together and ensuring the resources are available. Either weekly or prepare several weeks at a time.  
• Join a children’s church rota.  Doing once a month really does make a big difference.  The groups are creche, 3-5, 5-7, 8-11s.
• Join In- We run Join In in Oct and Feb half term. In order to make this very popular event available to more people we are looking at running it for 2 days instead of just 1. This will obviously require more team. Are you able to commit to being on the team? Are you able to commit to being responsible for some of the planning and running of the event?

Please note if you do not have a current DBS with us you will need to get a DBS and complete safeguarding training. Both are very straightforward to do and the office will help you through the process.
