About Us

Christ Church is a lively, growing Christian community that is seeking to live out Jesus calling, in the power of the Spirit, here in Ware and beyond.

People of all ages and stages are welcome and there is something for everyone from seniors to babies and all ages in-between. Each person has something to bring that will add colour and creativity to the church family and it is our desire that everyone feels welcomed and accepted and finds a place of belonging and fulfilment.

Jesus said ‘come follow me’ and as a church we continually seek to hear Jesus voice so that we are Jesus Led. Jesus said ‘I have come that you might have life and have it to the full’ and as a church of ordinary people we want to be Spirit Empowered that we might be His people, in His strength. Jesus said ‘as the father sent me so I am sending you’, we have found God’s love and care and have experienced God’s grace in all that Jesus has done for us and therefore we want to share that Grace with everyone, meaning that we are becoming a ‘Grace Based’ church in all we are and do.

As a church, our Identity is as a people belonging to God: 1 Peter 2:9. and we are called (our mission) to: Love God and others: Matt 22:37, to be disciples who make disciples: Matt 28:19 and to be a people who pray and proclaim God’s Kingdom: Matthew 6:10, Acts 28:31

Sunday is a time when we come together for worship and teaching for adults, young people and children alike with each group having their own time together. Our worship reflects different styles from a more traditional 9.15, to our new contemporary evening worship. As a church we place a high value on worship, the ministry of the Word and Spirit, friendship and reaching out with the love of Jesus.

We have a network of Life Groups, which are relationally based. These groups enable us to connect far deeper than just on a Sunday. We meet to share our lives and Christian experience through worship, learning from the scriptures and prayer, as well as enjoying lots of fun and food together! We seek to be outward looking with groups having their own particular interests and focus.

There are many more things on offer, whether you are right at the start of you Christian journey, with many questions you want answers to, or well established in your Christian faith. I hope you enjoy looking around this website and reading about all the different parts that make up Christ Church, Ware. The best thing though is to come and meet us in person and we’d love to give you a warm welcome.

Our Values

Worship centred
Everything we have is from God and out of His love for us – we owe Him everything! In response to His generosity we give our whole lives as an offering to Him. This is what we were created for – to worship God and reflect His glory.

Mission Shaped
God has a mission to save His lost and broken world, and to bring all things back to himself under the authority of Jesus. That is why he sent Jesus. This mission continues through His church, empowered by the Holy Spirit. Christ Church is excited to be part of this mission. Everything we do is shaped with those outside the church in mind.

Prayer Dependent
A lifestyle of corporate and personal prayer that shows our dependence upon the Holy Spirit.

Grace based
We are people who seek to demonstrate by our lives that we understand that what Christ did for us on the cross was entirely sufficient, to bring us back into relationship with God and to share his risen life. We are therefore compelled to extend His grace to others.

Spirit Empowered
We experience the love of God and meet with the risen Jesus through the Holy Spirit. We are empowered in our calling by the work of the Spirit in the fruit He produces in us and the gifts described in the New Testament. It is by the Spirit that we become more and more like Jesus – free, secure, courageous, faithful, caring, generous and joyful.

Word Rooted
We believe that the Bible is God’s Word and carries His authority. Through the Bible God has revealed to us what He is like and this is primarily how He continues to speak to us today. God’s Word is amazing- it brings life, freedom and wisdom!

Transforming community
We are invited into God’s family of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. It is a transforming community – where we experience the transforming love of God through one another and seek to transform the community around us. Jesus’ call to love, serve and form healthy relationships with each other is at the heart of who we are at Christ Church – a call that is costly and requires commitment. It means we need to have deep fellowship: being real, sharing our lives honestly, valuing everyone, and building healthy biblical relationships.
