Weekly Update

Our new series on Mark’s Gospel continues this Sunday with the Kingdom of God in Mark – the Kingdom is near, Mark 1:14-28. Do join us at 9 am or 10.30 am in church. You can also join us as usual every Sunday at 10.30 am on our live stream HERE.

Away day at home - Saturday 26th February 2022
Our church Away Day (at home this time!!) returns, with times of worship, encounter, teaching, fun and laughter. There will also be a Children’s and Youth programme for the day.
Our guest speaker is the Reverend Nicola Moy. She is the vicar of Christ Church W4 in Chiswick, a ministry partner of CPAS, a speaker at Lee Abbey and was on the leadership team of New Wine. She loves travel and has ministered in India, Africa and Asia, but not yet South America! She is married to Richard, the new National Director of SOMA UK, and they have three school aged children and a dog!! Prior to ordination she was an RE teacher. Finding out about faith
’’Are you interested in finding out more about Christianity?  Maybe you're new to Christ Church or have been with us for years. Perhaps there are things holding you back from making a personal commitment. Or maybe there is someone you'd like to invite who would benefit from chatting in a smaller group.
Why not join us on Monday 24th January at 8pm in the church for an opportunity to hear more from John, our vicar about who Jesus is and the difference he can make in our lives.  There will be plenty of time for discussion and questions over a cuppa.’’

Gentlemen of Men Active During the Day
MADD, Christ Church Ware
The MADD men plan to meet on Thursday 20th January 2022 at 11.30 am. Tea and coffee will be available on arrival. Please note we will be in the Church for the January meeting.
We have a speaker for the January meeting; Colin Bird, Chair of the St Albans Diocese Board of Finance. If you are male and available at the above time you will be very welcome! More information from Bob Barker or Peter Dane.


Could you be a mentor to a young person? 
Being a Christian teenager can be really tough and so the role of the mentor provides a safe opportunity for young people to talk through life, navigate different pressures, encourage them in their faith and be supported in prayer. It is a really effective way for young people to be heard, befriended and supported. Several of our young people have expressed an interest in having a mentor and so now in order for this to work, we need mentors!
If you are interested in finding out more about what this involves, please come along Thursday 20th January 8pm in the church centre. If you are feeling the nudge to do it but are unsure if it is for you or you have questions then please do speak to me and I would love to chat it through with you. Jess

Week for Christian Unity
During the week of Christian Unity we will be joining with the other Churches in the town in a joint act of worship.  Service: 18th January at 7:30pm for 7:45pm at St. Marys.  Focus on Lebanon and the Middle East.


Inter-church Quiz – Saturday 22nd January 2022
Christ Church will be hosting the Inter-church Quiz on Saturday 22nd January at 7.30 pm in Church. Interested teams (maximum 8 people or individuals) should register with Christ Church Office. Please bring your own nibbles and drinks (alcoholic drinks allowed). We will provide tea and coffee. All money raised will be going to Tearfund in Rwanda. The suggested donation is £5 per head. God Connects the Dots
Nina Coles Life Group invites  you to join with them on Saturday 22nd January at 10:30 am in Church to hear  Gill and Paul Gosbee sharing their story.  Trying to stay on the right path without taking any diversions, our adventure in South Africa and how God joined the dots.
Everyone welcome refreshments will be served.

Operations Manager Vacancy
After 12 years Martin is moving on from his role.  We are looking for his replacement, if you know someone who might be suitable for the role please do share the job description and details which are HERE. 

Calligraphy Skill Required
We are looking for someone to update some parish records which requires some Calligraphy Skills.  If you can help please contact the office.


Death Café
Death Café is an opportunity to get together with others and discuss matters surrounding death in a supportive setting. It takes place on the third Thursday of the month and is open to all.
