Weekly Update

Dear Friends,
We continue our series  looking exploring the Gospel through Romans, the Good News of Jesus, what it means for us and how we share it.

​Good News of Jesus  While we are exploring the Gospel we are inviting you in this New Year to be praying for 5 friends or family to come to know Jesus for themselves.  Why not pray for them in your Lifegroup or Prayer Triplet this week.
 

Service of the Word – Friday 9th February 12:15pm in Church (after the Friday Coffee Morning 10-12).  This service will be on the second Friday of the month.  The service is an opportunity for people to attend church during the week and to connect with God.
 

SEVEN  This Sundays Seven Service – 11th February 7pm in Church – The Gospel of John. Seven Service is on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of every month at 7pm &  social time together in church after the service
 

Ash Wednesday Service – 14th February 8pm  in Church

Alpha Catering – As part of the Alpha Course we like to provide a cooked meal for the participants.  If you would be interested in providing one of these meals or would like to know more – please contact the office.

 
The Bereavement Course
Seven free sessions of films and discussion for anyone bereaved anytime, whether grieving a death now, or wanting to explore a previous bereavement that may be unresolved. This course is for bereaved adults to do their own grief work.  Join us in church Monday 5th February for seven weeks 7.30pm – 9.30pm.   (its not too late to start)   Please contact the Rachel Quinlan for a registration form:  [email protected]
 
 
JOIN IN!  Monday 19th Feb (10-12am & 2-4pm ) and Tuesday 20th Feb (10-12am & SEN 1-2.30pm) Event for parents/carers and children to come to together with bouncy castle, soft play, games, crafts, Bible story and café.

Let’s talk about….  Romans  Daunted by the idea of doing in-depth bible study?  Would you like to join a beginners life group, led by Caroline Tiffen and Nina Cole. 
The group will be meeting Friday’s at 9am at the front of church-before coffee morning,  9th & 16th February, 1st& 8th March, 12th & 26th April   Starting with the Romans Course,

 
Christ Church School News
After 15 years Mrs Vaughan has decided to retire at the end of this academic year.  It has been an amazing privilege in the development of the school.  Her commitment to pupils, the staff, community and our Christian ethos has been an outstanding example. Many have been able to develop, grow and flourish over her time.
We look forward to celebrating all those achievements and to thank Ania for her servant leadership and commitment to the school later in the Summer Term.
 
The Governors have already been planning for this transition with a small team set up with the support of the Diocese and Herts for Learning to lead the recruitment of a new Head Teacher and the advert is now on teach in herts, Teacher Recruitment, Hertfordshire UK - Headteacher (teachinherts.com) as well as social media.
 
Please do be sharing the advert, and holding Mrs Vaughan and the school in your thoughts and prayers at this time of transition.  
 
It is a privilege to have a partnership with the school since it was founded nearly 165 years ago.   The Governors and I continue to be excited for all the future holds with an experienced and capable senior leadership team at school along with a great staff and community.                                                                                                                                                     John Hookway

 
Women’s Bible Study
As part of our women’s ministry Monique will be overseeing a five-week course, looking at the book of Philippians. The course comes with a workbook for you to purchase, and carefully guides us to go deeper with God as we look at Philippians.   Saturdays 2:30-4:30pm 24th Feb, 23rd March, 20th April, 18th May, 22nd June.  This is open to any women at Christ Church, the material does not cross over with life groups, so you are welcome to attend both.  To purchase your own study guide

Eco tip for February - Sign up for a personal carbon footprint calculator (readily available online and most are free). Calculate your carbon footprint and use the remaining weeks to try to commit yourself to reduce you carbon impact.

 
Prayer Space In the prayer area at the back of church there are cards for you to leave a; Testimony, Things to Pray for, as well as words for us as a Church.  The Staff team will then take time to pray during for them during the week.  Please place completed cards in the offertory box or give to a member of the clergy.
