We're not quite finished, but we are back in the building for Sunday services....
The story so far...
Christ Church is a lively, growing Christian community that serves individuals and groups, of all faiths and none, in the town of Ware and beyond.
Our aim is to provide:
People of all ages, stages and backgrounds are welcome and there is something for everyone from seniors to babies and all ages in-between. Each person has something to bring that will add colour and creativity to the church family and it is our desire that everyone feels welcomed and accepted and finds a place of belonging and fulfilment. We are a busy church, very active in our community. Our problem is, we are running out of space! Not only do we lack space for our own growing ministries, we have to turn away many local community groups who are seeking space to deliver their services. PHASE 2 - The PlanThe great news is that our church is thriving, congregation numbers are growing, our young people’s ministry is booming and we are embarking on more and more projects to share the love of Christ with our community.
However, as a response to God's blessings of growth, the logistical and practical need for our buildings to be upgraded is now a major priority. Our facilities do not meet the ambitions and potential of our church as we are operating at “full and over capacity.” Not only do we want to create a church fit for future generations, building on the rich legacy of the past, but also to reach more of our community, blessing them with the resources we have. PHASE 1Phase 1 was completed in the Spring of 2017 and created space for the expanding team on the new first floor of the Memorial Hall. Previously we had seven staff members working in five locations around the town, some in cold and damp offices, without the benefit of working in a team for support and encouragement.

How the story started
It’s a topic that has been discussed several times over the last few decades, but our current story started in 2006 when the inspection report highlighted issues with the roof, floor and heating. We fixed the roof to keep us dry! The next report in 2011 identified again a number of areas that required significant improvement in order to be a compliant, safe and fit for purpose facility. These issues were not minor in nature and required a long term response rather than a patch up here and there. It fails to meet current standards for safety, for accessibility, for heating, for lighting, and for environmental efficiency in a public building.

PHASE 3
Building an extension on to the Church, as had been visualised for many years, is problematical due to planning restrictions. However, Phase 3 might be achieved through options for extending the Church Centre including a commercial kitchen, so that up to 160 people could be served meals there. This could be a realistic prospect at comparatively modest cost. Watch this space!
