Street Pastors

Street Pastors logo Christ Church, Ware is one of the churches supporting the Street Pastors who work in Hertford & Ware on Friday evenings. The Street Pastors, volunteers from many of the churches in the towns, are out on our streets in the evenings, listening to young and not so young people and helping them when they may need assistance.

Rev Les Isaac, a Director of the Ascension Trust, pioneered the Street Pastors project in London in January 2003. Teams across the country have seen some remarkable results, including reduction in crime in areas where teams have been working. There are now over 100 teams around the United Kingdom.

Each city project is set up by Ascension Trust and run by a local coordinator with support from Ascension Trust, local churches and community groups. The local Community Safety Partnership supports the Hertford & Ware Street Pastors; members of the Partnership include the East Hertfordshire Council and the police.
